About Judy McKenna

Judy McKenna has been actively educating people to take charge of their finances since 1978 when she became a Cooperative Extension specialist in personal finance at Colorado State University. She has degrees from the University of Kansas, Colorado State University and Oklahoma State University and was awarded the Certified Financial Planning designation in 1984.

In 1992, McKenna initiated the "It's Your Money" column with the Fort Collins Coloradoan that has been published for more than 13 years.

Numerous recognitions attest to McKenna's passion for financial education, including various national awards for innovative and effective financial curricula; the Distinguished Service Award, highest award given to Colorado State University Cooperative Extension campus faculty; the Colorado State University Alumni Association Distinguished Faculty Award; the Fort Collins Commission on the Status of Women Marcile N. Wood Award for significant contributions to the status of women in Fort Collins; and selection for Leadership, Fort Collins.

In 2005, McKenna retired as an emeritus professor from Colorado State University to begin financial planning with individuals and families.

Just for fun, my hobbies include travel throughout the world, reading (all types of books and publications), cooking, wine tasting, and exploring Colorado and the U.W. with a camping trailer.
